When we are enjoying the comfort of our mattress we do not think about the man hours that have gone in to manufacturing it. It is a team effort as the mattress goes through different processes of fabrication. There is always a production line for the manufacture of a mattress and it passes from one skilled worker to another until the job is complete. We do not think that thousands of these mattresses are manufactured daily to meet consumer demand. They are manufactured all over the world and the UK has a large industrial base for the manufacture of your mattress. Even though some of the manufacturing processes are mechanised the whole process is labour-intensive involving approximately eight manufacturing stages with hands on labour necessary at almost every stage. The assembly line should deliver fully professionally manufactured mattresses at the end of the process that will deliver comfortable sleep to you and I the consumers. I hasten to add that my own mattress is so comfortable that I have not even considered changing it though it is well beyond its sell by date. Having seen a recent mattress promotion advising that mattresses should be changed on average every seven years I took instant notice and was slightly shocked by some of the facts. It appears that all sorts of bacteria, bedbugs and foreign organisms breed in mattresses due to the amount of moisture released by our bodies during sleep. I am embarrassed to disclose just how old my mattress is but I now accept the fact that it is time to change my mattress for the good of my health if not my comfort. On the other hand mattress manufacturers now claim that all of their mattresses are superbly comfortable due to improved construction materials and methods. I currently sleep on a divan bed so disposing of my mattress presumably means disposing all so of the bed base. That I can accept and would probably prefer a new divan bed complete with mattress and base, something that is hygienic, posture efficient, durable and most importantly comfortable. I am deliberating between purchasing online or in a high Street retailer and I think I will opt for a pocket sprung mattress with a layer of memory foam on top. This seems to be the most comfortable model according to customer testimonials online. I suppose mattress brand is very important so I will probably go for a brand that is well-known, tried and tested. Whatever choice I make the main criteria for purchase will be body support combined with comfort. If I can find something in the high street retail outlets that meets my requirements I will go online and search for the same model. I believe there are huge savings to be made by doing so and delivery normally is included in the price. From recent experience of browsing online I have found numerous websites that sell beds and mattresses. They all provide a similar range of mattresses but there are price differences and this is what I have been investigating most closely. The good news is I found the exact mattresses I'm looking for and it takes all the boxes in my needs box. By browsing further online I found the exact same mattress at a much cheaper price. Not fully content with my findings I continued to look for a better bargain and after some time found an unbeatable price. I feel quite proud of my achievement and am happy to go ahead with the purchase as the online payment method seems to be fast and secure and customer services appear to be very competent. I can now make an online transaction from my armchair and the mattress will be delivered to my front door – that's what I call convenience and service.
